Donna Lassiter Boehle graduated from SWT in 1969 where she was voted Best All Around Athlete in high school and college. She taught school for 36 years in Comal ISD. During this time she coached volleyball at Canyon High School and boasted an outstanding record of 551 wins and 216 losses in her career. Coach Boehle was inducted into the Texas Girls Coaches Hall of Fame in 2012. She was most recently inducted into the Texas State Bobcat Hall of Honor in 2014 and is credited with establishing the University's first volleyball team. Coach Boehle can still be found in a volleyball gym somewhere in the New Braunfels area most Tuesday and Friday nights!
Karen Chisum is in her 39th season coaching Texas State volleyball. She is the third winningest active coach in NCAA history and is just 32 wins shy of her 900th career victory! In 1994 Coach Chisum was the first female to be accepted for membership in the "T" Association's Hall of Honor. Before coaching the Bobcats, Coach Chisum led the New Braunfels Unicorns to a Class 3-A State runner-up in 1976 coaching former Texas volleyball standout Nell Fortner.
This year's event will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 16th, 17th, and 18th. The 32 schools entered this year will travel from as far away as Dallas, Houston, and West Texas to participate in this prestigious event. The Fraulein Volleyfest will bring in an estimated 2000 visitors to the New Braunfels area for the long weekend to enjoy some exciting volleyball action and the sights and sounds of New Braunfels.
